Embrace Across Generations
Our first community service in the new school year “Embrace across Generations” was successfully held on 9th October 2016. The service was co-organised with the Windshield Charitable Foundation Social Service. HKU students and new immigrant children visiting the elderly living alone. Children were engaged in making their own schedule and they liked our souvenir very much. They concentrated on learning the communication skills with the elderly and practised how to share the health information to the elderly. Participants acted as a bridge between the elderly and the children. When the children were nervous to chat with the elderly, the participants took the lead to help which has created a warm atmosphere. It is important for the participants to keep an eye on the emotion of the children and the elderly too. During the elderly visit, the children were active in chatting with the elderly. The elderly also shared their past stories to us. It is believed that this service would be a grateful memory to them and the elderly were glad that we had gone to visit them. Many thanks to the Windshield Charitable Foundation Social Service and all the participants! Now let’s enjoy the selected photos taken during the function!
